250 Hr Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Studies

"Fertile Ground"

2024

with Kristen Watson Geering and Special International Guest Teachers

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

― Anais Nin

Welcome to "Fertile Ground"- The 250 Hour Yoga Teacher Training and Advanced Studies Curriculum presented by

Kristen Watson Geering

and

Special Guest Teachers

The Paths of Yoga help us to bring awareness, balance, and harmony to each layer of our being.

Over the Course of these 9 months, through experiential processes and profound learnings, we will become intimate with and deepen our knowing of self vs Self.

From the Knowledge that we garner, we are empowered to take responsibility for the privilege of a life we are blessed to wake up to and live on a day to day basis.  By cultivating uplifting intention, and committing to compassionate action, we embrace the opportunity to live our greatest visions and ideals in a very real and possible way, unique to and authentically ours, while serving each other within the community and the greater world.

First and foremost, this course is designed for anyone with a calling to dive deeper into the practices and paths of Yoga, whether the initial intention is to teach or not.  We recommend having a 2+ year consistent practice, although this is not required.  We recognize that TIME is not as important as our willingness NOW in this moment, to Show Up and Dive in.

Secondly, this course is designed to give you a strong foundation, or fertile ground, as a yoga teacher embarking on this journey of sharing these practices with others.  Whether this is your first training, or you have completed one before, it will serve as a strong anchor that will be honoring to the traditions as they have been passed down, and also help you to share the teachings in your own way with clear expression going forward. Many teacher trainings are short and sweet, designed to get you in and done. This is different. Its not only sweet, but a long period of time where we grow together, create and embody new habits, and watch as our lives over 9 mths, and our Yoga practices serve each other. Having these 9 mths together really deepens the experience and ripens the practitioner.

Through classical and modern approaches to yoga, this program will combine Kristen's 20+ years of yoga study of various traditions, 18 years of full time teaching in the classroom, her Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology, as well as including the beautiful offerings from world-renowned Guest Teachers joining our team.

and Finally, different from other studios in town, we offer unlimited classes to the studio during the training, and a chance to teach community classes afterwards, and a mentorship “Blossom” to continue the call for those who wish to go on.

Testimonials

“For years, I have simply shown up in a yoga class, and let someone else guide me through vinyasas. Teacher training with Kristen has helped me understand that yoga can be so much more than just the asana poses -- Yoga is an approach to Life. The philosophy, the history, the anatomy, the nutrition, the spirituality, the chanting, the meditation, the neuroscience...as well as the up dogs and down dogs. Kristen (and her curated team of experts) provided both a theoretical and hands-on approach to these concepts, and how to bring them all together in a meaningful class. I am now humbled to realize the breadth and depth of knowledge that my yoga teachers possess. I strongly recommend training with Kristen, a special teacher of immense intelligence, warmth and a sense of humor that reminds us all -- it's just yoga, have fun.” ~Dan Cohen

”I found yoga when I was around 16 or 17 years old. A spark inside of me was alight. In my early twenties I started to really fall in love with yoga. It saved me and is still saving me every single day. I know I wanted to become a yoga teacher and share this wonderful knowledge with my little world. Yoga has so many benefits. At the Looking Glass I found a second home, a lovely and amazing community, and an amazing mentor and teacher. Kristen is always loving, warm, has an open ear. She helped me to face me fears (speaking in front of people, being alone in my head. Yoga is something really important in my life. Kristen guides me kindly back to the mat when i fall off the „band waggon“ and shows me how to take care of oneself, my body, mind and spirit. Kristen, thank you so much for being my teacher and guiding me, sharing your wisdom, your passion. It is such a pleasure to be around you.” - Liz

Kristen Watson Geering:

Leaving the Love of the ocean and sunshine in Encinitas, CA, for the Love of her Life and his son, Kristen arrived in Basel in January 2012.   In late 2013, she opened Oneyoga Basel with Salome Noa and in early 2016 continued on to open The Looking Glass Basel as sole owner and director. Since then, she has been striving to offer a place where everyone feels at home, welcomed, and that both teachers and students alike can Grow and Flourish.

Combining over 18 years experience as a full time yoga instructor, a MA in Spiritual Psychology and coaching practice, and a Deep Love of Human Experience, Kristen's classes serve to create a safe and uplifting space, where you can be yourself, and dive into the paths of yoga at your own pace.

Since April 2007, Kristen has completed over 5 different teacher trainings, and various workshops and intensives. She began her foundation within the Jivamukti Yoga Method, with both the 300 hr TT under the co-founders David Life and Sharon Gannon, and the 500- hr advanced apprenticeship in NYC, under her mentor Sandhi Gayatri Ferreira in 2011. In 2012 she spent a Month in Laos completing a Month Long Thai Massage Training. Next came a 100 hr yoga therapy training and then the 200 Hr Liquid Flow TT with Simon Park in 2017.  Most Recently in the last 3 years, Kristen has dove into, completed, and continues to weave in over 200+ hours of Katonah Yoga, her main focus these days for practice and teaching. What fascinates her about Katonah yoga is the use of Chinese Medicine, 5 element theory, the maps and metaphors, and body reading. In addition to over 1000 hrs of advanced study, Kristen continues to attend workshops and continuing education training every year.

Some of her other interests of style, which influence her teachings include Yin yoga, Iyengar yoga,  Anusara yoga, playful Acroyoga, Thai Massage, and pure Bhakti Kirtan.  In addition to teaching, Kristen is offering in class privates where she assists you in another teacher's class, as well as one on one, and a 250 hr Mentorship program.
